The rapid growth in the number of infected people is related to the current rainy season, which has increased mosquito populations, the director of the Dak Lak Provincial Center for Disease Control, Hoang Hai Phuc, said.

More than 1,230 cases of dengue fever have been recorded in that part of the territory since the beginning of the year and the epidemic grew especially in July and early August, particularly in the city of Buon Ma Thuot and the districts of Krong Pac, Ea Kar, and Cư M’Gar, he said.

On the other hand, Hai Phong city counted 4,307 infected in July alone, a significant increase over the previous month, bringing the total for the year to 7,118 cases, revealing a sharp increase compared to the same period in 2023.

Most of the sick people there are concentrated in urban districts and new outbreaks are spreading rapidly, the English-language daily Vietnam News said in releasing the information.
