Lebanon insists on national unity in the face of Israeli threats

Beirut, Aug 13 (Prensa Latina) The interim Prime Minister of Lebanon, Najib Mikati, insisted today on national unity to face the ongoing Israeli threats and aggression.

In his diplomatic contacts and meetings, the head of government stressed that the international community must fulfill its duty towards Lebanon and support it in these difficult circumstances.

At the same time, he emphasized that Israeli hostility should constitute an additional and fundamental incentive for solidarity among the Lebanese and not to open parallel debates.

In this regard, he reported that tomorrow the Council of Ministers will discuss in detail the measures and procedures related to the national emergency plan and the file of the displaced Syrians. According to the X account of the Levantine cabinet, Mikati addressed the help of international organizations with the United Nations coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs, Imran Riza.

The top Lebanese executive also learned about the assistance provided to displaced people in the south through the World Food Programme, when he received regional director Matthew Hollingworth.

In recent days, when disclosing its approach to restoring stability, Lebanon called on the international community to play a decisive and immediate role in calming tensions and stopping the current Israeli aggression.

At this point, he insisted on the full and equitable implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 to immediately reduce or cease provocative actions, mitigate risks and protect civilians.

In this regard, he stressed that the key to the solution lies in a ceasefire of Israeli attacks and an end to the aggression against the Palestinian people and giving them their legitimate rights.
