China urges de-escalation in Russia-Ukraine conflict

Beijing, Aug 12 (Prensa Latina) The Chinese Foreign Ministry expressed its concern after Ukraine's incursion into Russia's Kursk region and reiterated its call for de-escalation.

Beijing urged all parties involved to follow three principles: prevent the conflict from spreading beyond the battlefield, prevent the escalation of hostilities and refrain from fanning the flames.

The Foreign Ministry reaffirmed its readiness to maintain communication with the international community and to play a constructive role in the search for a political solution to the crisis.

Russia has been conducting a special military operation in Ukraine since February 24, 2022, the objectives of which, according to President Vladimir Putin, are to protect the population from genocide by the Kiev authorities.

It is also aimed at countering the national security risks posed by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s eastward advance.

Russian territories bordering Ukraine, such as Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk and Voronezh, as well as the Crimean peninsula, regularly report missile strikes, drone raids and other attacks from across the border.
