According to official sources, Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong and the deputy director of the CMC International Military Cooperation Office, Zhang Baoqun, are leading the Chinese delegation.
The Foreign Ministry announced that both parties will exchange points of view on bilateral relations and international and regional issues of common interest.
The “2+2” mechanism with Indonesia was established last year and involves the foreign and defense ministries of the two countries.
Last June, Beijing held the first “2+2” diplomatic and security talks at the vice-ministerial level with South Korea.
During those talks, the Chinese side made clear positions on the Taiwan question and other issues related to its core interests.
Beijing advocated a common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable security, true multilateralism, respect for the legitimate security concerns of all countries, and global cooperation through dialogue and consultation.
China took advantage of this dialogue mechanism to express, once more, its firm opposition to hegemonism, unilateralism, and power politics.
