Military sources consulted by Prensa Latina indicated that the air strike occurred near the town of Al-Duwair in Deir Ezzor province, some 450 kilometers northeast of the capital.
They confirmed six fighters as an initial death toll figure, while 11 others had been wounded, and the vehicle was totally shattered.
The attack’s perpetrator is still unknown, although similar actions in previous years had been claimed by the Daesh group, which is on the list of international terrorism.
In the extensive desert region of Al-Badieh, Daesh attacks are skyrocketing, and its members, according to allegations from Damascus, garner logistical support, protection and intelligence information from the U.S. military in Tanef.
According to analysts, Daesh resorts, since its defeat in 2018, to gang warfare and strikes supported by clear intelligence instructions to wear down Syrian troops and their allies.
Syria wages a war imposed since 2011, and although its army, with the support of its allies Russia and Iran, liberated most of the national territory from radicals, some attacks occur that Damascus attributes to groups backed up from abroad to continue destabilizing the country.
