The local press here announced that Puneet Roy Kundal, Secretary at the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, made this remark following a meeting with Albert Chimbindi, Permanent Secretary of the Zimbabwean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
The meeting was part of the third round of inter-ministerial consultations.
Kundal said, “We support each other in our candidature and I can assure you that Zimbabwe will not find India wanting, just as we have never found Zimbabwe wanting whenever we have asked for support.”
While in Zimbabwe, the Indian delegation was also in the country for commissioning the 48.1-million-dollar Indian-funded Deka Aqueduct project for Hwange Thermal Power Station.
Kundal also affirmed that India would continue to assist Zimbabwe in the medical sector and urged Indian companies to invest in this nation’s sector.
