Venezuelan ambassador denounces impact of US sanctions (+Photos)

Damascus, Aug 7 (Prensa Latina) The Venezuelan ambassador to Syria, José Grigorio Biomorgi, deplored the harmful effect of the US government's sanctions and called Washington's policy towards Venezuela hypocritical.

Barack Obama’s administration adopted a hostile policy towards Venezuela in 2015, falsely describing the country as an extraordinary threat to the security and foreign policy of the United States to achieve a change favoring the United States, the diplomat said.

Biomorgi assured that all attempts at dialogue and negotiation by US authorities were intended to make Venezuela yield, something they will never achieve. “Washington’s punitive measures affect the resources that the State ultimately puts at the service of society, which caused problems in the health and food sectors (of Venezuela),” he said and pointed out that 930 packages of sanctions were imposed on Venezuela to generate unrest among the population and stifle the economy so that the State may not guarantee the needs of the people.

The ambassador explained that from 2014 to 2022, Venezuela lost about 40 billion dollars, for a total of 350 billion, which generated acute inflation of 65 thousand percent.

Biomorgi considered that there is a growing awareness among the people of Latin America about the media and political manipulation of the United States towards their countries. “The United States does all it can to prevent any of the blocked countries from succeeding because it will be an example and model for the world to follow,” he concluded.
