Transparency in “Zero Hunger” program questioned in Paraguay

Asuncion, Aug 7 (Prensa Latina) Indigenous organizations in Paraguay criticized bad practices in the government's "Zero Hunger" food program.

Leaders of the indigenous populations protested about the bad food provided by the authorities, which worsened the difficult situation caused by the drought.

As part of the complaint, they showed images of large quantities of unfit fruits and vegetables delivered to schools.

They added that it was a serious act and a mockery to provide supplies “that looked like they were taken out of the garbage”.

According to the government, the groceries were distributed in 90 districts of the country, while the rest (more than 100) will have to wait until next year.

Community leaders expected the program to be a remedy to assist the villagers, but it was another disappointment.
