According to the information published on the Ministry’s official Telegram channel, the two navies’ joint exercises will be held in the seas of the Asian archipelago and will be called “Orruda-2024.”
Indonesian Navy Commander, Vice Admiral Denih Hendrata, earlier announced that this first bilateral exercise between the two countries was scheduled for November in the port city of Surabaya, in East Java.
The exercises will consist of two phases: the first will take place in the port of Surabaya and the second one in the Java Sea area.
Three ships from both sides are expected to be involved, Hendrata added.
These will be the first joint Indonesian-Russian naval exercises since Indonesia gained independence 79 years ago.
