National Employment Fund becomes operational in Angola

Luanda, Aug 6 (Prensa Latina) The National Employment Fund, designed to finance projects and programs that contribute to create jobs, became operational Tuesday in Angola, after its formal presentation.

During the launching ceremony, the Secretary of State for Economic Coordination, Jose de Lima Massano, guaranteed the Government’s commitment to its successful implementation and added that the economic stimulus and diversification measures further seek to create more employment opportunities in the national market.

At the presentation, which was attended by the Minister of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security, Teresa Dias, the Secretary of State stressed the importance given to the preparation of young people so that they can access better paid jobs.

Meanwhile, the minister specified that the National Institute of Social Security will be in charge of managing the Fund, which started its work with a capital of six billion kwanzas (over US$ 6.8 million), although more financing should be released in the next few days.

Dias said that the capital approved for this initiative is US$ 500 million until 2027, but everything will depend on the availability of the State budget.

The Fund, Lima Massano explained, is part of the actions of the National Employment Agenda, which has at the center of its action the joint work between the various public and private agents for the promotion of employment.

All this is part of the National Development Program 2023-2027 and its projection to reduce the number of unemployed people.
