The first shipment, received by Public Health Minister Georges Fils, consisted of a nine-ton shipment of 24,000 bags of blood, 18,000 double bags, six triple bags, and immunohematology reagents.
It also included reagents for infectious disease screening, 20,000 transfusion recipients, an Elisa washer, and other collection equipment.
“Reagents for compatibility tests, blood groups, and substances for detecting genes that can transmit diseases through blood are expected to arrive in next week,” the source said.
Ernst Noel, director of the National Center for Blood Transfusion, expressed that this is a substantial contribution that will allow us to better meet the growing demand for blood nationwide.
Before transferring the humanitarian aid, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Randhir Jaiswal noted that this was a sign of solidarity with the Haitian people.
