The resignation of the until now Vice Minister of Youth, who took office on March 22, will be effective as of August 12 and the person who replaces her will be the fourth to take office during the current Administration, added the source, quoted by the newspaper Delfino.cr. The previous resignation from the cabinet, in early July, was the director of the Institute of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Heiner Méndez, also preceded by other resignations and dismissals of ministers and deputy ministers, whose departure from their respective sectors seemed to mark an escalation.
The Presidential House confirmed in a statement that Méndez presented his resignation, and conveyed to the resigning minister the gratitude of President Rodrigo Chaves for “the work, dedication and commitment to the country’s fishing sector”.
The movements in the Cabinet of the current Executive include several resignations and dismissals in the last months of the year.
The resignations include those of the Minister of the Presidency, Natalia Díaz, on June 21; the Vice Minister of the Presidency, Freddy Morera, on June 28; the President of the National Women’s Institute, Adilia Caravaca, on May 8; and the Vice Minister of Finance, Priscilla Zamora, on June 18.
The group of dismissals includes the Minister of Culture, Nayuribe Guadamuz, on June 29; the executive president of the National Insurance Institute, Monica Araya, on May 8; and the vice-minister of Youth, Kristel Ward, on March 22.
