The medical procedure will be carried out at the Cardenal Dom Alexandre do Nascimento Hospital Complex for Cardio-Pulmonary Diseases, where the surgical robot was installed.
The Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, pointed out to the press that with this advance the country is in the vanguard of the region, since in Sub-Saharan Africa only South Africa has implemented this minimally invasive surgery, less painful interventions, and where the patient achieves a much faster recovery. She commented that foreign specialists would help the country perform the first surgeries and train the Angolan medical specialists.
The first cases to receive robotic surgery will be those of prostate cancer, for which a diagnostic campaign was carried out in the country last month.
