The Syrian Arab Republic conveys its sincere feelings of sadness and solidarity, and extends its heartfelt condolences to the friendly leadership, government and people of the DPRK, accodring to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs.
The note wished a speedy recovery to the injured, expressing also confidence in the North Korean people’s ability to overcome this terrible experience with unity and attachment to their leadership.
Large areas of North Pyongan and Jagang provinces, bordering China, were flooded by heavy rains and overflowing rivers, forcing the evacuation of thousands of people in boats and military helicopters.
Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), leader Kim Jong-un, personally led the rescue and evacuation campaign in North Piongan Province, which was hit by floods due to torrential rains.
He ordered the DPRK Air Force and Navy to assist in the disaster area by mobilizing helicopters and rescue boats of different types, as well as the naval patrol fleet of a border garrison.
