The president made the announcement in a video broadcast on Sunday on the occasion of the celebration of the Railway Workers’ Day, TASS news agency reported.

“We need an accelerated construction of Russia’s railway infrastructure that is on a new technological level, using the most advanced developments. And here we should not only start from today’s needs, but also create a plan for the future, for the coming decades,” Putin emphasized.

Thus, the country’s agenda includes the construction of high-speed arteries and international logistics corridors, the development of routes passing near the Azov and Black Seas and a railroad extending from the Baltic and Barents Seas to the Persian Gulf and the Indian Ocean, he added.

The tasks are really a large-scale, and I am sure that, thanks to your knowledge, experience and orientation to achieve results in the interests of the country, we will definitely solve them, the Russian leader added.
