Russia shot down 75 Ukrainian drones

Moscow, Aug 3 (Prensa Latina) Russian air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 75 Ukrainian drones over seven regions of the country and in the Sea of Azov, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

The military’s report, published this Saturday on its official Telegram page, indicated that the Ukrainian military attempted a massive attack with unmanned aerial vehicles against facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation, but the on-duty anti-aircraft defense repelled the attack.

The information adds that 36 aircraft-type drones were intercepted over the Rostov region, eight over the Kursk region, nine over the Belgorod region, 17 over the Orel region, two over Ryazan, as well as one per capita over Voronezh, the Sea of Azov and the Krasnodar region.

Andrei Klichkov, the governor of the Oryol oblast, said that two of the devices launched by the Ukrainian military managed to hit a residential building in Bolkhovsky, but without casualties.

Russia has been conducting a special military operation in Ukraine since February 24, 2022, with the explicit aim of protecting the population from “genocide by the Kiev government” and to tackle the risks to national security posed by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s advance.

Russian provinces bordering Ukraine, such as Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk and Voronezh, regularly report shell hits, drone raids and other attacks from across the border, forcing the population to seek refuge elsewhere.
