In a statement released here, the group called for an independent investigation into the systematic Israeli attacks in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
It noted that the World Health Organization reported 1,500 attacks on medical care in every conflict on the planet since 10 months ago, two-thirds of which took place in Palestine.
“This grim milestone has few or no precedents for the scale and magnitude” in the occupied territories, the nongovernmental organization stressed.
Protecting health care is not only a moral imperative, but a legal obligation under international law because it should never be a target, Houssam al-Nahhas, a PHR member, said.
The organization noted that in the last 10 months more than 39,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza and nearly 600 in the West Bank.
Of 36 health centers in the coastal enclave that were functioning before October 7, only 16 remain and they are only partially functioning, he warned.
The institution said thousands of people struggling with chronic illnesses exacerbated or triggered by the conflict also need medical evacuation.
