In its X account, the United Nations Satellite Center (Unosat) highlighted that the conflict caused a volume of debris that is 14 times greater than the combined total of all the wars in Gaza since 2008.

Nearly 41.9 million tons of debris were generated in that coastal enclave in the past 10 months, an increase of 19 million tons over January of this year, it warned.

The institution noted that the southern governorate of Rafah experienced a 1,149 percent increase as a result of the Israeli army’s ground offensive in May.

Meanwhile, destruction in the governorates of Khan Younis and Deir al-Balah grew by 163 percent and 95 percent, respectively.

Satellite analysis shows the presence of 114 kilograms of debris per square meter in the Strip, it said.

The agency noted that its data is the result of satellite imagery provided by Unosat and stressed that it provides a detailed picture of the extensive destruction and its implications for debris management.
