“The Eminent Personalities will come to supervise the progress in the establishment of the transitional bodies,” the head of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT), Edgard Leblanc, informed.
The visit will take place from August 10 to 16, Leblanc said, noting that some of the bodies have already been put in place for the formation of the National Conference and the establishment of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP).
In an unprecedented effort to address the crucial challenges that the country is facing, the CPT issued a decree on July 20 on the establishment of an exceptional participatory mechanism called “National Conference.”
The forum brings together stockholders from all walks of life, associations, organizations, movements and interest groups, all empowered to discuss issues related to the fundamental interests of the Haitian nation.
Although its duration is limited, it will enable all players of Haitian society to contribute to the elaboration of appropriate solutions, which will serve as proposals to shape normative texts and guidelines on major projects.
Haitian Transitional Prime Minister Garry Conille reiterated his commitment to focus on holding general elections in the country.
