This denunciation, which was reported today by the media here, was expressed by the permanent representative of this Arab nation to the United Nations, Ambassador Mohamed Abushahab, in his intervention during a Security Council meeting held to address the situation in the Middle East with a focus on the Palestinian issue.
According to the diplomat, the recent events highlight that the Israeli war criminals have decided to continue their bloody attacks to plunge the region into a full-scale war, benefiting from the unlimited support of the United States at the expense of international peace and security and the lives and blood of innocent people.
The representative made clear that the Israeli war criminals would not have continued their war crimes and crimes against humanity if it were not for the unlimited support of the United States and the hypocrisy and double standards practiced by some western countries that are involved in the war against the Palestinian people and kept silent about it.
The diplomat rejected Israel’s continued disregard for international laws and its non-compliance with Security Council and General Assembly resolutions, which threatens regional and international peace and security.
He held Tel Aviv responsible for last Saturday’s attack on the village of Majdal Shams in the occupied Syrian Golan, which killed 12 Syrian children, and denounced that the Israeli regime used it as a pretext to continue its attacks against the countries in the region.
No rightful person would believe the claims of the occupation authorities to defend the people of the occupied Arab territories while committing the most dreadful violations against them, he said.
Al-Dahak asserted that maintaining international peace and security requires the US administrations to abandon their destructive policies and stop preventing the Security Council from fulfilling its mandate in accordance with the Charter.
The ambassador also condemned Israel’s aggression in the Iranian capital, Tehran, which resulted in the death of the head of the Political Bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement, Ismail Haniyeh.
This criminal act was preceded by another terrorist attack on a residential building in the southern suburb of the Lebanese capital, Beirut killing several people, including a woman and two children, and wounding dozens of others, the representative said.
The incumbent explained that Damascus condemns in the strongest terms the Israeli attacks against its lands and against the sovereignty of Iran, Lebanon and other countries in the region, and expresses its full solidarity with these brotherly countries in the face of the sinful Israeli attacks to which they are exposed.
He also warned that the Israeli entity’s continued disregard for international laws, its non-compliance with Security Council and General Assembly resolutions may lead to an explosion of the situation in the whole region and threaten regional and international peace and security.
Mohamed criticized the U.S. administration for welcoming war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu with applause and cheers instead of prosecuting him in court.
The diplomat demanded that the Security Council assume its basic responsibilities to condemn repeated Israeli attacks and act immediately to stop them, prevent their recurrence, and ensure that their perpetrators do not evade punishment.
