Indian PM welcomes Vietnamese counterpart

New Delhi, Aug 1 (Prensa Latina) The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, welcomed his counterpart from Vietnam, Phạm Minh Chinh, who is carrying out a state visit, Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal informed.

The diplomat foresaw important debates between the leaders aimed at promoting the Comprehensive Strategic Alliance between the two countries.

After the meeting, the prime ministers will preside over the signing and exchanging of agreements and memoranda between both nations, according to the schedule released by official sources.

The Vietnamese head of government will also visit President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, among other activities.

India and Vietnam have old historical and civilizational ties, elevated to the category of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during Narendra Modi’s visit to Hanoi in September 2016, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs stated.

India considers Vietnam a key pillar of its Action East Policy and an important partner in its Indo-Pacific vision.
