Addis Ababa, Aug 1 (Prensa Latina) The Bole Highway Corridor Development Project, considered the third diplomatic center in the world, concluded with the inauguration of modern infrastructure appropriate to the capital of Ethiopia,

The Mayor of the city, Adanech Abiebie, highlighted the construction of wide roads for cars, pedestrians, and bicycles, parking lots, loading and unloading areas for taxis and buses, public parks, green spaces, fountains, public toilets, and paintings and lighting works along the highway adjusted to the city’s plan.

Abiebie extended her gratitude to the stakeholders, community members, and staff, who worked around the clock to complete the project launched on April last.

The mayor urged residents to take responsibility for its care and to preserve the infrastructure in collaboration with law enforcement to ensure its longevity.

The Bole Expressway, which covers more than 240 kilometers, is the fourth road completed within the Addis Ababa development project.

The scope of work covers revitalizing neglected areas, improving the living conditions of residents in informal settlements, installing integrated drainage systems and utility infrastructure, widening roads to accommodate the growing volume of traffic, creating wide pedestrian walkways, restoring heritage sites, and improving buildings to align them with the capital’s aesthetic standards.

The Addis Ababa Administration consulted widely with relevant stakeholders before commencing and implementing actions to assist households displaced by development activities.
