Egypt and UN address crisis in Gaza

Cairo, Aug 1 (Prensa Latina) The Egyptian Foreign Minister, Badr Abdelatty, and the UN humanitarian coordinator for Gaza, Sigrid Kaag, analyzed the crisis in the Strip and advocated access to humanitarian aid without obstacles to alleviate the situation, an official statement reported.

Both officials held a meeting in Doha, Qatar, to address the issue during a visit by the Foreign Minister, which had among its objectives the discussion of the progress of negotiations for a ceasefire in Gaza.

According to a statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Abdelatty emphasized to Kaag the urgent need to ensure unhindered entry of humanitarian aid to the coastal enclave. He also highlighted the importance of overcoming challenges and obstacles that hinder the entry of vital products.

On the other hand, Kaag stressed the importance of coordination with Egypt, given its role as a mediator in the crisis and its border with Gaza.

The head of Egyptian diplomacy was received yesterday by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, with whom he discussed joint efforts to promote a ceasefire.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs explained that the visitor also met separately with the Qatari Prime Minister, Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, to discuss the issue.

During both meetings, the parties agreed on the urgency of achieving an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, guaranteeing the entry of humanitarian aid to meet the needs of the Palestinian people.
