Cypriot party to prevent fuel supplies to Israel

Athens, Aug 1 (Prensa Latina) The opposition Progressive Party of the Working People of Cyprus (AKEL) demanded on Thursday to ban the docking in the country's ports of the US tanker Overseas Santorini, which carries fuel for Israel's fighters.

No to aiding the supply of Israel’s deadly military machine, a statement from the party, posted on its website, said.

While the genocide of the Palestinians is causing destruction, and the situation in the Middle East is sharply tense, the West continues to cover up, arm and support the Israeli military machine that sows chaos and deaths, the text added.

Ongoing support for the Israeli Army with weapons, technologies and fuel is complicity in the bloodshed and atrocities committed by the Netanyahu administration, the party stressed.

AKEL urged the government to ban all aid to the Overseas Santorini, ensure that it cannot resupply or moor in Cyprus, which would be tantamount to contributing to Israel’s military operations, according to a report by the Russian news agency Sputnik.
