Corruption continues to be talked about in Haiti

Port-au-Prince, Aug 1 (Prensa Latina) The corruption issue continues to be a topic of discussion in Haiti today, where the provisional government promised a relentless fight against the scourge.

A few weeks after the establishment of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT), the first scandal has already erupted in its structure.

Three councilors of this body are in the sights of the Anti-Corruption Unit, after they asked the head of the Board of Directors of the National Credit Bank, Raoul Pierre-Louis, for a millionaire sum of money to allow him to continue in his position.

Pierre-Louis immediately wrote a letter with all the details to the transitional Prime Minister of Haiti, Garry Conille, who promised upon assuming his duties to fight this evil that contributes to the erosion of the Caribbean nation economically, politically and socially.

In the face of the avalanche of criticisms, the secretary general of the Pitit Desalin Party, Jean Charles Moïse, summoned the banker to present evidence against a member of his team denounced for corruption.

Moïse asked for evidence against Me Emmanuel Vertilaire, representative of the political organization in the CPT.

The leader of the Pitit Desalin Party – according to the newspaper Le Facteur Haiti – gave Pierre-Louis a 72-hour deadline to present irrefutable evidence regarding the accusations made against Vertilaire.

In the midst of the controversy, the Secretary General of the political party Committed to Development, Sterline Civil confirmed his solidarity with Councilor-President Smith Augustin, representative of the group at the CPT.
