According to an Egyptian presidency statement, both leaders advocated diplomacy to achieve stability in Libya and a ceasefire in Sudan.

Egypt has two parallel governments at odds due to years of violence following a North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)-backed war.

Since April last, Sudan has been embroiled in an armed conflict between the Army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) which has displaced millions of people and killed thousands.

Egypt and Chad have been affected by both conflagrations after receiving numerous refugees.

El-Sisi and Deby also stressed the need to strengthen security in Africa’s Sahel region to confront ongoing terrorist threats.
