The event, which Colombian President Gustavo Petro expects to attend, aims to recognize the progress made by the Peace Table of the National System of International Cooperation.
The event’s venue is the Rogelio Salmona Auditorium at the Gabriel Garcia Marquez Cultural Center, where 170 signatories of the former Revolutionary Armed Forces-People’s Army (FARC-EP) and 70 others of the former April 19 Movement (M-19) are participating. They will receive a commemorative award for their work in favor of peace.
Mexican Ambassador to Colombia, Martha Ruiz, commented on the meeting that this historic event will recognize, with medals and diplomas, those fighters who worked for peace.
“This event is essential for us because our goal is to build peace in Colombia,” she said.
