The demand from the Foreign Minister was raised during his reception in this capital on Tuesday by UN Under-Secretary General for Peacekeeping Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix, and the delegation accompanying him.
Al-Mekdad denounced the attack perpetrated by the occupation forces last Saturday on the occupied village of Majdal Shams, which claimed the lives of 12 children, and urged to intervene to stop the Zionist practices against the Syrian population in the occupied Syrian Golan.
He reiterated Syria’s invariable and legitimate right to recover the Golan, while reiterating that Damascus will continue to cooperate and provide facilities to the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) to execute the mandate entrusted to it.
Lacroix, in turn, welcomed the cooperation and facilities provided by the Syrian Government.
He highlighted the role of UN peacekeeping operations in strengthening security, and the importance of efforts to stop the escalation in the region.
