On his X account, Skerrit reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening friendship and cooperation between both nations.

He also offered his support to Venezuela in its search for peace, stability and prosperity.

Skerrit joined other world leaders who hailed Maduro’s electoral victory in last Sunday’s elections, when he won the majority of the votes against nine opposition candidates.

The Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves, in turn, also congratulated Maduro and hoped that the Caribbean Community would pronounce itself on Tuesday on the events in Venezuela after learning about Maduro’s victory.
