Vietnam’s trade surplus exceeds 14 billion dollars

Hanoi, Jul 29 (Prensa Latina) Vietnam's trade balance remained in its favor in the first seven months of the year, when it reached a surplus of more than 14 billion dollars, the General Statistics Office reported here.

Between last January and the current month of July, the commercial transactions of this nation totaled more than 439 billion dollars, of which nearly 227 billion corresponded to exports and some 213 billion to imports.

The source explained that the bulk of foreign sales, 72,2%, corresponded to the foreign direct investment sector, while domestic entities contributed 27,8%.

According to specialists, the goal of reaching 377 billion dollars in export revenues by 2024, or a year-on-year growth rate of six percent, is feasible, since Vietnamese companies are prepared to take advantage of the opportunities of the 16 Free Trade Agreements signed so far.

The United States continues to be the largest importer of Vietnamese products, with a turnover of about US$66 billion. China is the largest exporter, with sales of about US$79,2 billion to the Southeast Asian country,
