At a regular press conference, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian highlighted the existing friendship and support between the two countries.
The spokesman recalled that this year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and emphasized on the importance China attaches to developing ties with Venezuela.
“China is willing to work with Venezuela to continuously enrich the content of the all-weather and all-test comprehensive strategic partnership between both countries,” the official added.
The president of the National Electoral Council of Venezuela, Elvis Amoroso, reported that the candidate of the Great Patriotic Pole, Nicolás Maduro was the winner in the presidential elections with 51.20 percent of the votes.
Amoroso explained that 5,150,092 persons voted for the current head of state, while his closest pursuer was Edmundo González, of the Democratic Unitary Platform, who reached 44.2 percent (4,445,978 votes).
Amoroso explained that these results are 80 percent of the data corresponding to the first bulletin, a figure that marks “a strong and irreversible trend.”
