Diaz-Canel: Chávez’s legacy mobilizes Venezuela

Havana, Jul 28 (Prensa Latina) The thought of Hugo Chávez (1954-2013) lives on and mobilizes his people in another civic day of the Bolivarian Revolution, said today the Cuban president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, on occasion of the 70th birthday of the Venezuelan leader.

“Not even he suspected how great he was,” said his great friend and comrade of dreams and achievements, commander in chief (of the Cuban Revolution), Fidel Castro,” wrote Díaz-Canel in X.

Likewise, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero pointed out in that social network, the special bond between Hugo Chávez and Fidel Castro that, he said, also forged deep relations of brotherhood and solidarity between both peoples.

For his part, the island’s foreign minister, Bruno Rodríguez, remembered “with special affection Commander Hugo Chávez, Cuba’s best friend, who today would have turned 70.”

“His electoral victory in 1998 launched the Bolivarian and Chavista Revolution and the Civic-Military Union that made possible the resurgence of Venezuela and Our America,” he added.

As part of the tribute to the Venezuelan revolutionary, a commemorative act for his 70th birthday took place in this capital yesterday, on which occasion the ambassador of that country, Orlando Maneiro, reaffirmed the continuity of Hugo Chávez’s legacy.

“Only the revolutionary process in Venezuela and its current leadership will continue to guarantee the Venezuelan people the peace, development and growth they deserve,” he said.

“Chávez lives under the mandate of President Nicolás Maduro Moros, who this Sunday, July 28, will win the Venezuelan presidential elections to continue leading the destiny of the Great Homeland of Simón Bolívar,” the diplomat predicted.
