Arreaza thanks Chavez for Venezuela’s democratic system

Caracas, Jul 28 (Prensa Latina) The Vice President of Communal Councils and Communes of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Jorge Arreaza, thanked on Sunday Commander Hugo Chavez (1954-2013) for having left an absolutely democratic country.

This was expressed while exercising his right to vote in this Sunday’s presidential elections at the Manuel Palacio Fajardo High School in the 23 de Enero, Libertador municipality of Caracas.

Arreaza recalled that this July 28 commemorates the birth of the Bolivarian leader, who would be 70 years old, and affirmed that “the first thing I want to do is to remember him and thank him.”

The former FM commented that 31 elections have been held, “but there are close to 100,000 elections held in the communal councils and communes since 2006, in which the people, from their territory, elect their representatives in a democratic and participative manner.

He stated that the communes are mobilized and today is a historic day.

There are 10 candidates on the electronic ballot and the people will know very well, “with a very big smile, which is the candidate to elect as President of Venezuela.”

The PSUV leader highlighted that people are voting, the system is very safe, with a very fast voting process and without any incident to report so far.

He also called on all Venezuelans to vote and indicated that this is a day to ratify the independence of Venezuela with the vote and to overcome any international interference.

For this Sunday, the National Electoral Council enabled a total of 15,797 voting centers nationwide and 30,026 polling stations, to which more than 21.3 million voters are called to vote, who will have the possibility of electing one of the 10 contenders.
