UN criticizes forced exodus of Gazan population due to aggression

Ramallah, Jul 27 (Prensa Latina) Ninety percent of Gazans have been displaced from their homes since the beginning of Israel's aggression, more than nine months ago, the United Nations agency in charge of helping the Palestinians denounced.

“Families seek shelter wherever they can: overcrowded schools, destroyed buildings, makeshift tents in the sand or among piles of garbage. None of these places is safe,” the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Middle East (UNRWA) warned on X.

“People have nowhere to go,” said the institution, which demanded, again, an immediate ceasefire.

On the same social media, the UNRWA on Thurday criticized “the frequent (Israeli) evacuation orders and relentless hostilities that continue to further devastate Gaza’s health system.”

Gazans, especially those suffering from chronic diseases, cannot access essential healthcare services, it stressed.

The UNRWA has repeatedly warned in recent months about a campaign being waged against the organization by the Government of Benjamin Netanyahu with the intention of closing its doors.

This week, the Knesset (Israeli parliament) approved in first reading three bills against the UNRWA.

One of them declares the UN agency a terrorist agency, another bans its work in the country and the third one eliminates its legal privileges, including tax exemptions.

Both the United Nations and numerous countries, including Israel’s allies, condemned these initiatives.
