Hundreds of people participated in the political and cultural activity organized by the Solidarity Movement, which took place at the Isidora Zegers hall in the Faculty of Arts of the University of Chile.
In the same way that Cuba supplied sugar during the Popular Unity government, saved many compatriots by sheltering them in that nation, trained specialists, and sent medical brigades during disasters, we must respond to that generosity.
Lautaro Carmona, president of the Communist Party of Chile (PCCh), made the call at the event attended by political and social leaders, members of the diplomatic corps, doctors who graduated in Havana, and friends of the Revolution.
The communist leader condemned the economic, commercial, and financial siege maintained by the United States against Cuba, and Washington’s decision to include the Caribbean country in the State Sponsors of Terrorism (SSOT) list.
Carmona called for tripling the “Put Your Grain of Love for Cuba” initiative, developed by graduates of the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) and the Gladys Marin Foundation.
During the activity, messages were read by Congressman Boris Barrera, president of the Chilean-Cuban Inter-parliamentary Group, and Fernando Gonzalez, president of the Cuban Institute for Friendship with Peoples (ICAP).
