The foreign ministers also reviewed the implementation of the priorities of Laos’ rotating presidency during in 2024, which runs under the theme “Enhancing ASEAN Connectivity and Resilience.”

Among the main issues discussed at the plenary session on Friday were the program for the ASEAN Community Vision 2045, which encompasses the Association’s Political, Economic and Cultural Community Strategic Plans.

In this regard, the foreign ministers expressed their satisfaction with the imminent signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation by Algeria, Finland, Luxembourg, Spain and Mexico.

The meeting also evaluated the implementation of several agreements signed by the ANSEAN leaders and emphasized the importance of strengthening the centrality of the bloc in the regional cooperation structure.

Friday is dedicated to related meetings that will continue until Saturday, with the participation of foreign ministers representing 35 countries.

The first such meetings were with

Australia, China, New Zealand, Japan, the European Union, South Korea, India, Russia, the United Kingdom and Canada.
