Buenos Aires, Jul 25 (Prensa Latina) Members of the Argentine Movement of Solidarity with Cuba in the province of Cordoba reaffirmed today their support to the Caribbean country, and demanded the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States for more than 60 years ago.

With the slogan “Cuba se respeta” (Respect Cuba), the friends of the island in that province organized a mural and actions to spread information on the negative consequences of that economic siege and of Washington’s hostile policy towards Cuba.

They have also organized a march from Colon and General Paz Avenues to Agustin Tosco square at 16:30 local time tomorrow Friday 26th when Cubans will be celebrating their National Rebellion Day.

Friends of Cuba groups in Argentina have organized similar actions to commemorate the 71st anniversary of the assaults on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes barracks, events that marked the history of Cuba.

On July 26, 1953, a group young people led by leader Fidel Castro (1926-2016) rebelled against the Fulgencio Batista dictatorship (1901-1973) and those events defined the beginning of the last stage of the Cuban independence process.

On Friday, as part of scheduled activities, there will be a tribute to Evita, Moncada, the liberated homeland.

The event will start at 19:00 local time in Buenos Aires and will be attended by Cuban diplomats, members of the Argentine-Autonomous Workers’ Union, the Dignity Popular Movement and other groups.

This will be an opportunity to highlight the ties of friendship between the peoples of both countries and also to remember Eva Duarte de Peron (1919-1952), the Standard Bearer of the Humble and Spiritual Leader of Argentina, 72 years after her death.
