The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) carried out the seizure of the Togo-flagged vessel about 90 kilometers from Bushehr, IRNA news agency reported.
According to the IRGC, the incident occurred on Sunday 61 nautical miles southwest of the Iranian port of Bushehr.
The ship, with 12 foreign crew members on board, was carrying 1.5 million liters of diesel fuel and was illegally traveling in the country’s southern territorial waters, the source said.
‘The seizure of this vessel was carried out according to court order’, added the CGRI.
The tanker and its 12 crew members, of Indian and Sri Lankan nationality, were transferred to the Bushehr anchorage and are under surveillance, the institution summarized.
