A report on national television informed that the visitors will participate in the national act for the event, to be held in the central province of Sancti Spiritus on July 26.
During their stay in Cuba, they expect to meet with members of the Jose Marti Brigade of Volunteer Work and Solidarity with Cuba from Europe and the Juan Rius Rivera Solidarity Brigade of Solidarity with Cuba from Puerto Rico.
The solidarity activists will also attend a political and cultural gala in honor of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.
Several activities are being conducted in and outside Cuba during these days to commemorate the July 26, 1953, events, when a group of young people of the so-called Centennial Generation attacked the Moncada Garrison in Santiago de Cuba and the Carlos Manuel de Cespedes Garrison in Bayamo, both in the country’s eastern region.
Despite not achieving their objective of calling for an uprising against Fulgencio Batista’s dictatorship (1952-1958) on that date, this action inspired them to resume the armed struggle some three years later, until they achieved the definitive revolutionary victory in January 1959.
