He also explained that two other members have arrest warrants in force, as is the case of Edgar Arango, alias Firu, and also alias Leo of the 36th front, for which they are now at the disposal of the Prosecutor’s Office to attend a hearing to be held this day in Bello, Antioquia, in the northwest of the country.
During yesterday afternoon, seven members of the EMC fronts in peace talks who were moving through Antioquia, among them alias Calarcá, were detained by the Army.
After the arrest, alias Andrey Avendaño, of the Magdalena Medio Bloc, said in a video broadcast on social media that the intercepted comrades were members of the delegation to the negotiations table with the National Government.
Regarding the validity of the arrest warrants against some of them, he said that since May 17, 2024 a request was sent to the Office of the High Commissioner for Peace for the lifting of these warrants.
He estimated that the incident “fragments the trust and what has been built” between the negotiating parties.
Last week the Colombian government announced the extension of the ceasefire until October 15 only for the Jorge Suarez Briceño, Magdalena Medio and Raul Reyes Front blocs, a faction separated from the EMC and which remains in talks, and from where the guerrillas detained yesterday come from.
