Health Minister, Francisco Alabi, indicated that they have already sequenced the dengue virus, and incorporated the application of PCR and triple PCR to confirm dengue, zika and chikungunya cases.
With the development of those practices, the country can count on accurate information for the approach to the diseases, through the genomic sequencing of the virus, a report from the Health Ministry (MINSAL) noted.
Alabi noted that through the National Health Institute (INS), the virus was processed and information was obtained on the different dengue strains circulating in the national territory.
Technology was added to control the disease, sequencing, and knowledge of the circulating variants. The National Institute of Health was all the time verifying, the sequencing of the five years without deaths, due to dengue, which was done, the minister explained.
A polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test is applied to each patient admitted, confirming or ruling out the presence of this arbovirus.
