Three months after withdrawing from the city, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) ordered the evacuation of the city’s eastern region this Monday and launched a massive wave of shelling a few minutes later, a step that preceded the entry of soldiers.
The Nasser Medical Complex reported that it had received hundreds of people in hardly a few hours following the start of the campaign.
“We are losing the lives of sick and injured people due to lack of capacity. We do not have the minimum resources and supplies to treat those wounded,” a medical source warned, quoted by Wafa.
Regional television stations showed footage of tens of thousands of Palestinians fleeing with what little they could carry on their shoulders or, at best, on bicycles or donkey carts.
Wafa informed that the IDF also decided to reduce the size of the so-called Al Mawasi security zone near the city, where hundreds of thousands of Palestinians are sheltering.
