Syrian and Russian presidents ratify relations

Damascus, Jul 21 (Prensa Latina) The presidents of Syria, Bashar Al-Assad, and Russia, Vladimir Putin, today reiterated the alliance ties between the two countries and stressed their firm and unchanging positions despite pressures.

Exchanging congratulatory messages on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, Al-Assad said Damascus and Moscow have for eight decades maintained their commitment to the principles of justice, sovereignty and dignity despite being subjected to all kinds of pressures and subjugation attempts.

He considered that the firmness of Russian positions today paves the way for a multipolar world.

In the face of the hegemony and war facing the two nations there is no room for concessions and the two countries will remain adamant and invincible, the Syrian president affirmed.

The Head of State expressed on behalf of himself and the Syrian people, his heartfelt congratulations to the friendly people of Russia, which over the decades have forged strong ties with the Syrian people based on mutual trust and understanding.

Russia’s policies evidence its position as a power that seeks good and peace on the basis of principles, values and respect for the sovereignty of states, he said.

In turn, President Putin said that his country is determined to continue its strong support for Syria in its efforts to defend its sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.

The Russian leader added that the continued development of Russian-Syrian relations is fully consistent with the peoples’ interests and is in line with the approach to promote peace and stability at the regional and international levels.
