The announcement of the official resumption of hostilities with all the EMC structures that respond to Mordisco was made last Tuesday by the Minister of Defense, Iván Velásquez, who remarked that this means an offensive against 24 structures operating in areas of Cauca, Valle del Cauca, Nariño, Putumayo, Huila, Tolima, Guaviare and Meta.

It was also reported that a temporary ceasefire was maintained for three months with 16 structures of the Magdalena Medio, Gentil Duarte, Jorge Suarez and Raul Reyes blocs, which are currently negotiating with the Government.

The official indicated that the decision to break the truce with the rest was taken due to non-compliance with the commitments acquired in the framework of the dialogue tables with these structures which, he said, departed from the generous offer made by the Government in the search for peace.

The information to the public opinion occurred four months after the ceasefire with the EMC under the leadership of Mordisco had been lifted in the departments of Cauca, Valle del Cauca, and Nariño, in the southwest, where fierce fighting is already taking place, mainly in the region known as Cañón del Micay (Cauca).
