The President informed that by the end of 2025, an institution based in Luanda, will have a large hospital dedicated to treating patients with different cancer pathologies, both adults and children.

Lourenço acknowledged that medicines are free in hospital units but, in general, the Angolan people have difficulty accessing drugs due to their high prices.

“Prices of medicines can remain expensive, especially because the country does not yet produce them. All drugs consumed in Angola, whether sold in private pharmacies or consumed in public and private hospitals are, as a rule, imported drugs,” he commented.

He added that the Executive is committed to bringing the pharmaceutical industry to Angola, to try to reduce the importation of these resources and lower their cost for the people, however, he pointed out that the investment in this possible industry will not be public.
