President of Venezuela: no one will stop the elections

Caracas, Jul 19 (Prensa Latina) The president of Venezuela and candidate for the ruling party, Nicolás Maduro, assured that no one will suspend the presidential elections on July 28th, as the national extreme right continues with its plans to unleash violence.

The head of state continued his electoral campaign yesterday and visited the Caracas neighborhoods of Petare, state of Miranda, and Catia, Capital District, where thousands of followers received him.

Maduro denounced that the “fascists are in an uproar, desperate for something serious to happen and to cry out,” so that the elections are stopped. “That’s the plan,” he said, and warned “the fascists and imperialists” that no one is going to take away the people’s right to elect their representative democratically.

The president stressed that the extremist right wants to reestablish hatred and intolerance in Venezuela, because they discriminate the people and that is why “they sow hatred to awaken demons. We are prepared, rain or shine, there will be elections on July 28th,” he stressed, and assured that love, tolerance and coexistence will triumph that day.

The opposition candidate José Brito visited Guzmán Blanco Avenue, popularly known as Cota 905, in the city of Caracas, and also rejected any act of violence.

Brito, from the Primero Venezuela party, stated that they will not allow any rich people to light up the streets, “confronting us like brothers against brothers” and pointed out that, beyond political differences, “we are Caracas and Venezuelans.”
