As part of the initiative, more than 500 popular pots will be set up all over the country to share food and the main rally will take place at 15:00, local time, at Buenos Aires Obelisk.
Among the organizations that will be represented are the Federación Nacional Territorial de la Central de Trabajadores-Autónoma, Libres del Sur, the Movimiento Argentina Rebelde, the Frente Popular Darío Santillán and the Coordinadora por el Cambio Social.
In a joint statement, these groups warned about the accelerated deterioration of the population’s living conditions and pointed out that food insecurity in urban areas reaches 24,7% of people, 20,8% of households and 32,2% of children and adolescents.
The impossibility of accessing necessary food, particularly in the most vulnerable sectors, is the direct responsibility of the Minister of Human Capital, Sandra Pettovello, the text states.
We denounce that the worst violence is hunger and we vindicate each and every one of the people who throughout the length and breadth of our beloved Argentina continue to maintain soup kitchens that provide what the government denies, it concludes.
