I am not eliminating any variant, Riabkov said when asked by the press whether Russia would deploy long-range nuclear-capable weapons in response to American missiles that could appear in Germany.
The diplomat commented that, because Germany and the United States, which “are at the head of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the agreements on arms control were completely broken.”
In this situation, Russia should not hold back from the point of view of what to deploy, where and when to deploy. That is, one must have the broadest options, he said.
Riabkov assured that this is not a threat, but rather the possibility of finding the most effective algorythm to react to changing challenges. On July 10, NATO published a statement during its summit in Washington, according to which, in 2026, the United States will begin to deploy its long-range missiles on German territory, for a lasting presence.
The US arsenal will include SM-6 missiles, Tomahawk and hypersonic weapons, which have a significantly longer range than the missiles currently stationed in Europe.
