The genocide in Gaza confirmed the flagrant partiality of the United States and its allies in the West towards the Israeli occupants at the expense of International Law and the Charter of the United Nations, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Al-Mekdad reiterated that Syria repeatedly warned of the consequences of this aggression and the attacks against its territory, and requested that the Security Council stop them but Washington prevented it from doing so in violation of its obligations as a permanent member of the body.
The politician denounced that Israel deliberately increased its escalation to the maximum, and regretted that the collective security system established by the United Nations Charter has not managed to force the occupation authorities to stop immediately its atrocities and daily massacres.
The Foreign Minister wondered why Western countries remain silent about the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by Israel, while they mobilize and take the initiative to issue resolutions against other countries under pretexts and unfounded accusations.
According to Al-Mekdad, Tel Aviv would not have dared to commit all these flagrant violations had it not been for the direct participation of the United States in the aggression and the unlimited political, military, financial and media support it provides.
Al-Mekdad reiterated his complaint that Washington prevented the Security Council from fulfilling its responsibilities for maintaining regional peace and security, opened its weapons depots, and used its veto five times in just a few months to allow the Israeli state to continue its crimes.
The Resolution 2735 presented by the US administration in the Security Council was nothing more than a form of wishful thinking and was never intended to protect the Palestinian people, but rather to obtain internal electoral gains and give more time for Israel to exterminate more Palestinians and liquidate the Palestinian cause, the Minister said.
