German police arrest nine people in operations against neo-Nazi party

Berlin, Jul 18 (Prensa Latina) German security forces arrested nine people on Thursday, during raids in Berlin and two other federal states on alleged followers of The Third Way neo-Nazi party.

The police and the Berlin Public Prosecutor’s Office indicated that the suspects, aged 17-21, are members of the National Revolutionary Youth, the youth wing of the extremist organization.

The operations, during which 10 apartments were searched, reportedly took place in Berlin, Brandenburg and Saxony.

The raids are also linked to a July 6 attack on several people at a trolleybus station in Berlin and the suspects are accused of involvement in a politically motivated robbery last January.

As part of the deployment, the 130 or so officers involved seized cell phones, computer storage devices, clothing, a vehicle and various weapons, including blanks, industrial tools and electric stun guns, as well as propaganda materials.

The Third Way is a small party with a broad neo-Nazi influence and has a very residual representation at the local level in some regions of southern and eastern Germany.
